Dusk
by Elisabeth Pruitt
Lie with me,
Here where the sun never reaches, here where time never lived.
Lie with me,
And rediscover sensation, rediscover fantasy, rediscover yourself.
Lie with me,
Here where the shadows drift, where reason never lived.
Facades have no place here; beauty lives in a minute scar.
In the dusk, honesty is no cliche -
Smiles and tears that aren't yours, discard;
I know who you are.
Lie with me,
And we'll lose our false tongues,
Lose our superfluous words,
Lose our paper-mache values.
Lie with me,
Here where love isn't concrete,
Here where reality is what's felt.
Lie with me ...
